This past Friday, I had a meeting with a client in midtown in the early afternoon. Prior to that, however, I had no plans so I decided to, for the first time, head to Lincoln Center and just shoot the scene at NYFW. I thought there might be an outside shot that I could get some content and then pitch it to some publications. What actually happened, however, was that I discovered that there were about 80 other photographers there trying to do the same thing. I realized quickly that there wasn't much I was going to be able to do to differentiate myself so I started brainstorming what I could do as an alternative.
One thing that is frequently mentioned between my friends and I is the phrase: "Everyone's a Photographer". And that rang very true here. However, one thing that is not consistent is how well dressed all of these photographers were. So instead of focusing all of my attention on fashion's elite, I decided to shoot the fashion hustlers.
